The portfolios on this site have been developed from my work for conservation organisations showing a passion and fascination with detail and landscape, and for bands, venues and festivals representing the diverse and exciting cultural life of the South West - an area with a powerful social life all its own.

I have worked freelance photographing gigs and festivals for many years and have recently focussed on emerging music, often from the SW region, and arts and culture associated with my work with leading contemporary crafts and arts organisations. The sample portfolios show some recent 'live' work at The Cavern in Exeter - a venue fizzing with energy if you hit it on the right night - and other gigs and festivals around the country from Womad to Beautiful Days.

My work comes from seemingly disparate interests stemming from a rural upbringing in East Anglia and a later 'culture shock' in Sheffield and Liverpool. I have retained both a fascination with the energy of the city and of the countryside - brought up by my mother who encouraged a keen interest in the natural world and a willingness to tackle anyone who didn't respect it!

My exhibition Sense of Place focussing on land and plant details suggesting place, time and season has, after starting life at The Devon Guild of Craftsmen, toured throughout the South West to a series of venues. I am currently looking for a home for the 20 to 25 prints in the exhibition, preferably at a single venue.

I am a Photographic member of The Devon Guild of Craftsmen - the leading contemporary crafts organisation - see www.crafts.org.uk and a Member of The Dartmoor Tourist Association.

Recent commissions have also included cottages and B&Bs around Dartmoor with images used to improve their promotion on the web and through print.
