My work comes from seemingly disparate interests stemming from a rural upbringing in East Anglia and a later 'culture shock' in Sheffield and Liverpool. I have retained both a fascination with the energy of the city and of the countryside - brought up by my mother who encouraged a keen interest in the natural world and a willingness to tackle anyone who didn't respect it!

After living in many parts of Britain the South West seemed to have all the right ingredients for a balanced lifestyle a mix of city and rural, culture and environment coupled with a strong identity linked in part to its history of 'green' activism. I live in Bovey Tracey, a small but perfectly formed town on the fringes of the moor which has an increasingly large number of incomers with a friendly and inclusive culture.

I am a Photographic member of The Devon Guild of Craftsmen - the leading contemporary crafts organisation - see www.crafts.org.uk and a Member of The Dartmoor Tourist Association. I also work part-time for the Devon Guild as Marketing Officer and undertake voluntary conservation work when time allows. I am interested in unusual projects linked to environmental or cultural projects and would be happy to collaborate on schemes with other photographers, environmentalists or makers.
